Nothing is better than classic cars that are survivors, and one of these two beautiful Gullwings has only 16,000 miles on the odometer.
Crossing the auction block in August as part of the Gooding & Company Pebble Beach Auctions, both Mercedes-Benz Gullwings have been owned by a single family since the mid-1950s. The story starts with a publishing executive in the Midwest who ordered the 1955 Gullwing coupe through Max Hoffman’s New York dealership. But that person didn’t just want any normal Gullwing, he opted to order it in British Racing Green with tan leather, a rare combination among the 1,400 total Gullwings ever built. It has only been driven 16,000 miles and the auction house expects it to sell for $1 to $1.3 million.

The other Gullwing is a 1957 300 SL Roadster, featuring a Silver-Blue Metallic finish with gray leather interior and a parchment soft top. It has 38,000 miles on the odometer and even comes with the original matching Karl Baisch luggage set. It is estimated to go for $800,000 to $1 million.
The 2017 Gooding & Company Pebble Beach Auctions will take place August 18 and August 19.
